Here's a full list of the monsters in 4 if you want to understand what I'm trying to say Basically, what this means is, monsters that are shaped like a Dragon are of the Dragon species, but if it looks like it's made out of stone, it has a Golem breed. To add to all of that, monsters have a Species and a Breed. That and monsters can get traits/moves that they can use and will be sometimes be passed down to their offspring. I'd recommend the 4th game for you if you are interested, because it allows you to raise multiple monsters at the same time and has a friendship system where monsters will make more powerful offspring if they were friends in life. After freezing them, you can combine them with other monsters that you've breed to basically make monsters that are more powerful at birth. You then train the monsters to compete in tournaments or explore caves, and they eventually get old and either die or you freeze them. Theyre an old PS1-PS2 era series that was known for it's unique way of spawning monsters.īasically, you would take out the game disc and insert any other random disc into the PS1/2 and it would read the disc and give you a monster based off of it. My recommendation would be the Monster Rancher series. I've heard mention of a rather complex breeding system available in Black Desert Online, so I'm definitely going to look into that. PC, andriod, iOS, or Xbox are all available and I don't have much preference. A horse might gain a random special skill by chance, but it will NEVER pass it to offspring. Horse Haven is what I'm doing currently on my Andriod, but it's very much a game directed at young girls and the presets are frustrating. 1 + 1 = 2 and will always do so with never any variation.ĪRK: Survival Evolved has an interesting breeding mechanic, and it has been improved upon for sure, but I've logged more than 1800 hours in that game already(not just breeding, obviously) and I'll keep playing for sure, but not purely for that mechanic. Skills can only be learned, or given by random chance or leveling, but nothing is inheritable. The problem with most games I've come across is that they just use presets. It's really satisfying to plan out and pair two creatures based on what stats would compliment each other and eventually produce the "perfect" creature down the line. I love genetics and the ability to breed to produce unique creatures with specific traits or skill sets. Horses, dragons, creatures of any sort, really. I am trying to find some good games that focus mainly on the breeding of animals or creatures.
